Path To Peace

I want to tell you about an exciting project we have begun. We are offering everyone the opportunity to sponsor a commemorative brick that will become part of the Path To Peace.

Two sizes of bricks are available - the rectangular size has 3 lines of inscription, and the square has 5. The bricks will line the sides of the paths that wind their way through the beautiful land the stupa is located on.

We decided to create a sample path up at the stupa, so people could see what it will look like once it's implemented. Although the path itself will be concrete, we decided to use flagstone so it could be easily moved once we begin the landscaping portion of the stupa project.

Here's what it looks like from the hill above the stupa. The tall rectangular rock in the foreground below the red flag holds up the guest book. Next to it are 2 large rocks with the donation box suspended between them. I'll get closeup pics soon. To the left of that are the two information boards with banners that talk about how to use the stupa and brochures on our other compassionate activities.

It's so wonderful to think about what this path will look like as it grows - meandering its way through the red rocks, each name or dedication being read and remembered as prayers are made around the stupa - a living, breathing expression of love and memoriam.

Here's the view when you stand between the guest book and the donation box. You can really see how beautiful the stupa looks with its new coat of paint.

Wow! As soon as we got the sample path installed, people were already drawn to finding out how to sponsor a brick. Here Shelley is giving a visitor the lowdown.
