Losar and Mani Mantra Accumulation

During the 2 week period of Losar or Tibetan New Year, we invited the Sedona community to join us in accumulating many repetitions of OM MANI PADME HUNG, the mantra of Chenrezig, the Buddha of Compassion. The mantras were dedicated to tolerance and the peaceful end to conflicts in the world. People accumulated the mantra as they circumambulated the stupa, then recorded the accumulations on a tally sheet in the guest book. On Chotrul Duchen, the last day of Losar, commemorates a 15 day period during which the Buddha performed a miracle every day in order to increase the faith of his followers.

The total number of mantras accumulated during this period was 375,000! In April, we will continue the mantra accumulations and dedicate them to the end of child abuse, as April is National Child Abuse Prevention Month.
